Humble Beginnings – 1955

The first official show took place in 1955 at a local elementary school, organized by the Tucson Gem & Mineral Society. Initially focused on education and community outreach, the event grew rapidly due to the unique geology of Arizona and the passion of its early supporters.

By the 1970s, Tucson had transformed into a worldwide destination for gem and mineral trade. The show expanded beyond traditional venues, and today spans over 40 locations throughout the city—from hotel ballrooms and tents to expo halls and open-air markets.

Thousands of vendors from more than 40 countries exhibit museum-quality specimens, rare minerals, meteorites, fossils, handmade jewelry, metaphysical tools, and more.
